Root! Root! Root for the Mariner's!

  On May 22nd, Kirk and I had our very first date since K.A.C.H. was born.  We struggled with what we should do with our time. He suggested a Mariner's game, and I was thrilled with the idea.  So, Grandma Wid (Lydia) picked up Kiddo for a few hours, and we walked to Safeco Field (and back).

  It had been over 2 years since we had gone to any sporting event, aside from James' high school football games.  Mainly because of our home team's subpar playing skills at that time.  It was not always worth witnessing the heart break of losing repeatedly.    However, with a new coach, and players that at the beginning of the season I was unfamiliar with (think of the movie Major League). Well...  It was worth a go!  

  This year they are amazing (as compared to the previous years).  The Kid is back in action, and proving that cheeseburgers and exercise is all one needs to hit home runs.  Not steroids (Canseco).  Our closing pitcher Aardsma is worth a gander as well.  Not to mention that we chose this game because Randy Johnson (former Mariner and current SF Giant) was pitching in Seattle for the first time since he was on the team, and for Kirk, Randy Johnson is a nostalgic name.  

  He told me all about when his parents took him to see the Mariner's at the age of around ten, and Randy pitched his first "no hitter" game.  He was all smiles the entire time, as was everyone else in the crowd!  By around the 6th or 7th inning when he had left the pitchers mound, there were tears and screams of joy.  It was amazing to witness.  

  For me, my nostalgic moment was being able to see Ichiro (my favorite player, along with Griffey) up close.  I adore Ichiro.  His stance is more like a jockey, than that of a pro baseball player, but his swing is mighty.  Also, Griffey was off that night, but with the lack of runs, he was brought in to score.  He almost had a homer, but it fell short, and was caught at the fence.  For most of the game, the score was SF: 1 and Seattle: 0, until toward the end of the game.  We finally tied it up, and went into extra innings.  12 innings total.  It was exhausting, but we won he game 2-1 by a stolen base and more.  It was a sweet victory!

  I have to mention garlic fries!  That. Is. It.  I could live off of garlic fries.  I would have to sacrifice my friends and social life, but still.  So delicious.

This Will Be Our Year...

As I sit here and type this, I ponder the past year and all of the amazing things that have lead into this one.  The self-release of Kay Kay and his Weathered Underground's first album on our own Bombs Over Bellevue label, Sarah's wedding, our pregnancy, RX Bandits tour, et cetera.  This will be our year.  

Though please, don't be mistaken.  After almost 6 years of being together, and almost 3 years of marriage, needless to say, every year was our year.  However, this one is even more extraordinary!  With the birth of our son, Kiddo and motherhood, the second self-release of Kay Kay's new album "Introducing..." (due this summer on B.O.B.), (Kirk's other project) Wild Orchid Children's release of their full length also on our Bombs Over Bellevue label, and the Me Without You tour (in which I will obviously and proudly be sitting this tour out)...  Well...  Let us just say that things are on an "up and up"!  It has not been easy keeping up with everything, and of course Kiddo is our number one priority, but it has been a blast and a huge learning experience.

Watching him grow has been the most fun!  He has such a laid back personality, much like Kirk.  He has been smiling since the second day we brought him home.  Now, he is very chatty.  He gurgles and loves to coo, and is extremely alert.  We have been teaching him music very early.  Kirk has been showing him The Kinks, The Beatles, Harry Nilsson, and Kay Kay.  I have been playing him The Zombies, David Bowie, Oingo Boingo, and a tons of jazz.  He seems to like Kay Kay, probably because of Kirk's voice.

Kirk has been busy with us, the bands, and work at Glo's.  

I have been busy with Kiddo, playing games, and job hunting, which has been difficult, but always fun to start over with a fresh outlook on things.  I am hoping to get back into commercial real estate doing Facilities Management.  I am also working on a plan to start my own organic toiletry business.  Still trying to think of a name, but I have the numbers, and a business plan are ready to go.  It will be homemade organic soaps, washes, perfumes, etc...  It has been so much fun doing the research, and honestly, nothing will really come of it until the end of the year.  It's never too soon to be fully prepared. 

Things have been going splendidly, we have just been taking things one step at a time.
